The Carilion Taubman Cancer Center is proud to bring proton therapy—a highly precise form of radiation treatment—to our region. This technology targets tumors while minimizing exposure to surrounding healthy tissue, offering life-changing benefits for patients, especially children and those with complex cancers.
Until now, patients have had to travel hundreds of miles to access proton therapy, often making treatment impractical or financially burdensome. By introducing this technology locally, we can keep patients close to their families, reduce travel and related costs, and provide advanced care right here in Southwest Virginia.
