The Dr. Robert Berry Surgical Resident Education Fund

The Carilion Clinic and VTC Department of Surgery

The Dr. Robert Berry Surgical Resident Education Fund was founded to increase support for our surgical residents. Dr. Berry, a former Chief Surgeon and General Surgery Residency Program Director at Roanoke Memorial Hospital, believed in the power of surgical mentorship and began educational initiatives that continue today. These funds will help to provide support for educational materials and provide special recognition opportunities for our residents to attend national meetings.

We are proud to introduce the new Carilion Clinic Global Surgery Fund. This fund allows current residents the opportunity to rotate for two months at Mzuzu Central Hospital in Malawi in Central Africa. The Malawi rotation is a great opportunity for senior residents to work in a country with limited access to surgical care. The annual cost to fund a resident is approximately $20,000.

On behalf of our Residents, we thank you for your support.
